SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
SOS Local Matters started in February 2021, as a way for us to support other causes in the Samui community.
At each of the monthly ladies lunches there will be jars promoting 2-3 community groups for the “Sisters” to support. Everyone who attends the lunch will receive one “button” to drop in their jar of choice. The “buttons” represent a token of choice.
At the end of the lunch the buttons will be counted, and 5000 THB will be split between the 2-3 groups.
- When there’s 2 causes: 3000 THB to 1st and 2000 THB to 2nd (updated: April 2021)
- When there’s 3 causes: 3000 THB to 1st, and 1000 THB to each 2nd and 3rd.
Send us your suggestions...
Please put forward your ideas of local groups and/or Thai & Burmese families on Samui who are facing extreme hardship (eg. medical conditions, etc) who could benefit from our monthly LOCAL MATTERS donations.
This small token of support will make a a big difference to many lives and fur-friends on the island.
Since February 2021, the Local Matters program has supported Samui Snake & Wildlife Rescue, female hygiene and personal care products for women in the local community, a young Burmese boy with cancer of the eye, Pariah Dog Sanctuary, contributed towards a new bike for Uncle Lung, and purchased adult diapers for the people we see during our #FeedSamui handouts.
