Local Matters: Rice Project – Koh Samui Hospital 2026

Koh Samui Hospital, located in Nathon, is the main hospital on Koh Samui. As a government-run medical facility, it serves as a vital pillar for the community. This month saw the opening of the Marina Hub, a new wing of the hospital; however, funding has been slow, and the hospital has reached out for island-wide support to help equip the wards. We are happy to say that through the generosity of many Thai locals and businesses, significant donations of money and equipment have been made.

Sisters on Samui decided that throughout 2026, they will assist the hospital by providing rice for the Nutrition Department to use in patient meals. In March 2026, we donated THB 5,061 worth of Thai Jasmine rice. We shall continue this support throughout the year, with our next delivery scheduled for later this month in April 2026.

Koh Samui Hospital services locals, migrants, and Westerners alike. It is the island’s busiest hospital, offering a variety of services and visiting specialist doctors. To ensure support across the island, each of Koh Samui’s seven “tambons” (subdistricts) has a medical center. These are staffed seven days a week and provide local care for patients.

We thank the staff of Koh Samui Hospital for all that they do, and we wish the Marina Hub success as part of the island’s most important hospital facility.
