Since 2017, the Samui Monkey Football Academy has provided over 40 local children with the chance to train, compete, and develop through football. The academy believes in the philosophy of “Never Give Up” and makes sure every child, regardless of background, has access to a safe and inclusive environment where they can build skills and confidence.
Samui Monkey Football Academy stands apart because it truly welcomes every child, regardless of financial background; these really are children from the poorest families in the region, supported by the generosity of others and the local community. While there are prestigious academies on Samui, such as the PSG Paris Saint-Germain Academy at Maraleina Sports Resort, those programmes operate on a different level and are often out of reach for the children at Samui Monkey. This community-run academy remains open and accessible to all, ensuring that even those who cannot afford fees are able to participate thanks to community support.
Football Training for All

The academy welcomes boys and girls aged 6 to 12. Training sessions run on weekday evenings and focus on developing football skills, teamwork, and physical fitness. Led by coaches Khun Nuu and Khun James, players learn everything from ball control and passing to tactical awareness.
Children also have the opportunity to compete in regional tournaments, with the academy enjoying successes in Surat Thani, Krabi, and Nakon Si Thammarat, including winning the Championship Cup in 2025. Alongside sporting achievements, the academy encourages healthy routines and a positive attitude.
Opportunities and Support
The academy aims to create pathways to scholarships and further education for its players. By encouraging active participation and providing structure, it offers a reliable alternative to less positive distractions sometimes faced by young people.
Financial challenges remain significant. Many children come from low-income families, and covering fees, equipment, and travel is not always possible. Recent changes at Thepmitrsuksa Suratthani School have put several scholarships at risk, highlighting the need for ongoing community support.
Community Contributions
The academy sets an annual fundraising target of 250,000 Thai Baht. This amount covers the basics: land tax, equipment, coach stipends, travel to matches, and urgent costs.
Donations, whether one-off or monthly, help meet these needs. Transparency is assured through a dedicated bank account, giving supporters confidence that funds are used responsibly.
How to Get Involved
Local supporters, including villa owners at The Headland, Taling Ngam, have been supporting Monkey Samui for several years making a notable impact through regular contributions. With more children taking part and costs rising, new supporters are welcomed from as little as THB 500 per month. The academy invites financial support, sponsorship of projects, or donations of equipment. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer on the Samui Monkey team each week day evening in Lipa Noi. Your support means the world to these children.
A Positive Space for Young Players
Samui Monkey Football Academy provides structure and opportunity for local children to learn, improve their fitness, and take part in competitive football. The academy is open to further support from the community, ensuring it can continue to offer its programmes and keep participation accessible for all young players.
